Mechanical Pinch Valves
Mechanical Pinch Valves are complete flow solutions. They’re simple, effective, and absolutely reliable. Their fool-proof design uses a robust horizontal bar that pinches the rubber sleeve. AKO makes 3 lines of mechanical pinch valves: the OV, VZ, and RV series.
The horizontal bars inside each mechanical pinch valve is adjusted by either a variety of mechanisms such as: Manual Handwheel, Two-sided pneumatic cylinder, Single-acting, Spring return pneumatic cylinder, Single-sided pneumatic spring with a pneumatic cylinder, Hydraulic cylinder, and Electro-mechanical actuation depending on the model and line of valves. Do you want a way to measure how much the valve is shut? That’s no problem. Many mechanical pinch valves can have an electronic sensor and gauge to verify the exact amount of exact flow restriction. The difference between the Handwheel Crank mechanical valves and the Pneumatic Cylinder mechanical valves is that the handwheel is operator adjusted, while the pneumatic is adjusted by compressed air. The benefit of the pneumatic cylinder mechanical pinch valve is that it can be placed in areas not convenient for an operator to reach.

Benefits of Mechanical Pinch Valves
- Mechanical pinch valves, like all pinch valves, allow the free flow of product without virtually any resistance when fully open, while restricting all flow when closed without any leakage.
- Their design is inherently simple, offering incredible value with a low total cost of ownership and minimal maintenance cost.
- Blockage when opening is virtually impossible. Even for applications that crusts or hardens easily. When the operator opens the valve, the inner wall of the sleeve contracts to a cylindrical shape with no resistance. Reliable resumption of flow is one of the greatest benefits for pinch valve owners compared to all other valve options.
- Mechanical pinch valves, on account of their adjusting screw, offer a non-powdered option that is easy to open and close due to the principles of mechanical advantage amplifying hand-torque power.
Mechanical Pinch Valve Design
Mechanical pinch valves, like air actuated pinch valves, utilize an elastic reinforced rubber sleeve. The pinch valve casing is the frame of the pinch valve, which has a metal horizontal bar that lowers or rises by using an adjusting screw. As the screw goes up or down, that metal bar does the same, thereby restricting or opening the flow of product through the sleeve. The main advantage of mechanical pinch valve design is that they are inherently simple. AKO’s mechanical pinch valves are simple and of the highest quality among all competitors.
